I love being popular.

First, to Jim, I believe I understand what you want to do, but no, I'm unaware of any tools that would automate making all registered members, members of one sub-blog (main-blog or not).

Adding them one at a time is tedious and time consuming, but you can check wpmudev.org for a plugin I seem to remember allows users to add themselves to a sub blog. Leaving that decision up to the users generally is the best idea anyway.

Second, to dpd1998, There are two places to set registration on in wpmu. The first is in the Site Admin > Options which sets the WPMU Options to register new users, register new blogs, or both. The second is in Site Admin > blogs > and 'edit' the specific sub-blog … in the Edit screen, look for the option fourth or fifth down, on the left hand side, "Users Can Register" and set it to 1 (one) this sets the WP option in the individual sub-blog.

SPF originally was not designed to work with WPMU and this little difference (seeing the individual WP sub-blog option and not the WPMU global option) is a reminder of those humble origins.

We leave this setting in place also as a security measure. Only a wpmu site admin can change the registration options, preventing spammers from opening security holes in a wpmu system that should be closed to new registrations, if that is the setup that the site admins require.

Radio,

Thank you, I followed your directions on the second place to set registration on wpmu and it worked. Registration link is now showing up.

Mr. Papa,

Thanks for trying to help. I'm sure it gets frustrating some times trying to help with scripts you don't use.

P.S.

When finances allow I'll make sure I get a donation sent. I'm laid off from work, have custody of 3 kids with no help from family. Things are tough for a lot of people but with help from above things will change for the better.

Jim,

I hadn't taken any thought to your problem until a few minutes ago.

Transfer your members by using the phpMyAdmin form your cpanel where you made your database for the wordpressmu. This should work for any wordpress regular or mu even transfering from regular to mu.

1. log into cpanel and go to the bottom of the page you made the database.

2. Click on phpMyAdmin and select database transferring from

3. on list on right go to bottom and find wp_users

4. Click on the 1st icon to the right of it. It should say browse when you put you mouse over it.

5. Immediatlely after the last user entry click on “select all” them to the far right of that same lime click on the icon. It should say export.

6. In the column that is labeled export make sure the sql button is selected.

7. Scroll to the bottom right corner where it says go and click on it.

8. The text showing is a sql dump. Copy and paste the code to .sql using notepad on your computer where you remember where you saved it to.

9.  Run the sql dump to the database you want the list added to. Back up the the new database user file before you do it.

CAUTION: All users have a unique ID i-end of list. This will remain the same on the new database. New users on the new database will have to be added by hand if needed. The user ID can also be edited to the next nunber in sequence on the .sql form. This has to be easier then addind all 700 + by hand.

Let me know if this helps or you need more direction on how to run the sql dump to the new database.

Let me know if this helps…

I did import all the users via SQL query. The problem is, they did not become subscribers to the main blog. That is what I may end up doing manually, making them subscribers.

Users/usermeta imports is a known issue in the wpmu discussion forums, but nobody has been able to help me with a procedure to address my subscriber challenge. Other than adding them manually. Confused

Thanks though!

Jim,

I'll keep it in mind as I work continue to put finishing touches on the site I'm working on.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I haven't been through the forums enough to know that transferring was a known issue.
