I would like my forum to look exactly like this one with the same icons, etc.

Can you tell me if it's available, what it is and where to get it

Thanks,

Alec

have you checked the forum – options – styles panel??? All of the provided skins and icons are selectable there. The skin is smoke and the icon set is ash.

If you downloaded a minimal install and did not get the rest of the skins/icons, you can download them from our downloads page.

you know the bar beneath the search bar ie: with the navigation links:

Home Forums Skins and Theme Problems This Theme

does that come with the theme/icon sets or do I need to install something else.

Thanks for your advice

its the breadcrumb settings in the options… you really should take a look at all the options and components… lots of good stuff in there…

Thanks again Mr Papa, if I could trouble you for one final question:

I turned the breadcrumbs feature on and it works – great, but it shows the links going down rather than across (as on this site), how do you change that?

argh, a more problematic issue…  Its even worse on other pages, you probably just havent noticed yet…

you have a plugin that is screwing things up… are you running an old version of contact form 7?

some plugin is converting \\n characters into <br /> characters…  usually through some interaction with wpautop…

I would suggest disabling all plugins and seeing if it corrects itself, then enabling one by one until it breaks… then we can deal with the conflict…

also, a side note, since you are running ash icon set, you should turn off the text links next to labels that are text to prevent the odd looking duplication.  you can do that on forum – options – styles…

ahh, that is an issue. The only plugins I think it could be is Wordpress Petition or MM Forms. The problem is that I am using both of these to store supporter information for a campaign we are running and to submit information to a local government agency. If I disable these plugins, I know they are not yours, but would you think it will clear all the signatures and stuff in the database behind or any of the configuration?

Not sure if you will be able to spot the culprit from a page the plugin is operational on, but here goes:

MM Forms: http://cpwf.co.uk/home/?page_id=3

Wordpress Petition: http://cpwf.co.uk/home/?page_id=29 (support us bit at the top)

Any advice would be much appreciated, sorry to take up so much of your time.

you should be able to safely disable the plugin without losing any information (unless the author is a TOTAL moron which is not likely the case)…

I am only suggesting to disable them temporarily to see if we can isolate the problem. you can turn them back on after we know if its a conflict.

Hi Mr Papa, right, did as you said and everything is still ok – great. The culprit is MM forms, turned it off, refreshed the forum and everything looks pretty, then turned it back on and we are back to where we were.

What's next? – thanks again for your time

AlecLaugh

PS: You were right along the contact form 7 lines, just noticed this on the plugin description:

MM Forms plugin is developed by Motionmill.

Motionmill has a lot of experience in building websites using Wordpress.
When we encounter issues, we try to solve them. This is translated in the creation of new plugins or modification of existing plugins. For MM Forms we were inspired by Contact Form 7. Nevertheless this was and still is a great plugin, we found a lot of gaps.
So we decided to build a new plugin with all necessary specifications.

I guess, see what kind of filters and hooks they are running… we might be able to disable or change priority on one of them to avoid their wpautop issue… they really shouldnt be running anything on the forum page – only on their page…

perhaps before worrying about that, check if you can exclude the MM Forms plugin from the forum page – after all, I assume it is not used there? Or is it? So does it have any 'exclusion' options? Or an option to only use it on specific pages? It really should have.

Check also that you have the latest version. This problem was introduced because of a bug in WordPress back in 2.7 (or might have even been 2.6) which is now fixed and most authors have updated their plugins and corrected the hack.

Hi,

No the MM forms plugin is not used on the forum page. I have tried to look for options in the plugin to only use on specific pages – there are none, and I am on the latest version (9.4.0b). I have posted a query on their plugin page yesterday, but it just says awaiting moderation – it doesn't look like they update regulary.

Any help you could give would be much appreciated and a donation is in the pipes if we manage to get it sorted.

Thanks,

AlecLaugh
