Hi…I just installed Minimal Simple:Press Forum Version 4.0.2 using the WP 2.7 zip uploader for automatic upload and activation. After clicking "Activate", there is no "Install Simple:Press Forum" on the administration panel, and under the Action column, it is showing "Deactivate | Edit" NOT "Install | Edit". Kindly advise as to what the problem and/or solution is. Thank you!

What about the menu? Directly under the comments menu? Is that not there?

Did you perhaps ever have a previous version of SPF installed?

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH for the QUICK reply. Yes. I originally installed SPF 4.0.1 sometime last week. Everything was working fine. I added all the requested categories and postings. Then today, this message was showing:
"Latest version available: 4.0.2 – Build: 1370 – Recommended Update and Bug Fix Release. Please remember to protect any customisation you may have made to skins, icons, program hooks or pluggable functions – Simple:Press Forum"
When you click on the Forum page, all forum topics and postings are not showing. They just simply disappeared, as well as the Forum administration on the left side. You can login and register, even after I deactivated it. Forum page is located at – http://diamondhealthnut.com/DH…..page_id=35
Where do I go from here?

Hello…Yes, I did. As mentioned previously, nothing is visible any longer – to both guests and registered members – only the login and register page. Everything was working fine when SPF 4.0.1 was first installed. Do I need to completely delete the plugin and reinstall it? If so, how, since the SPF admin does not show anymore. Thank you.

so all you did was upload the new 4.0.2 version and overwrite the 4.0.1 version? it wouldnt hurt if you deleted the simple-forum directory from your plugins and reupload the plugin files… dont touch your database and you wont lose any data…
Could you look in your datbase, in the wp options table for options sfversion and sfbuild and tell us the values?

Hello, again. I'm not very good in explaining things (that's why I'll never be a teacher), so I thought this would make more as far as trying to explain the issues I'm having with the reinstalled SPF 4.0.2, instead of me making myself sound like a complete idiot. Kindly view it here…

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

these are just warnings that you havent set stuff up yet… might worry about now usergroups or permission sets though…
you have not defined any groups or forums… to actually have a forum, you must have one group and one forum…
you dont have any spf admins, thus all wp admins are granted access to make sure you arent locked out of the backend… create spf admins at forum – admins – manage admins
its odd that you dont have any permission sets or user groups as spf comes with default ones… have you perhaps deleted them from the db?
also, you did not respond with the requested info from your db… you can get pretty much the same info from your forum – options – toolbox tab in the spf admin…

I'm so sorry. Please pardon my ignorance. I'm just a novice. I cannot create forums, add users, change permissions, etc. You can click on the tabs, that's about it.
In response to your request, – "Could you look in your datbase, in the wp options table for options sfversion and sfbuild and tell us the values?" – I'm not exactly sure which database you are referring to. I only have permission to work on the "blog" part of this site. "you can get pretty much the same info from your forum – options – toolbox tab in the spf admin…" As shown below, this is what it looks like:

What do I need to do? I was told to delete the plugin for the time being since I'm "spending too much time on it and (I'm) already way behind schedule." What do they expect from a full-time student and full-time worker? For free!

sounds familiar!
what do you mean you cant create groups? are you sure you are completely filling out the form? you should get either a success or failure error at the top when you create a group… its in big, bright yellow box…
If you want to create me a temp wp admin account with spf admin capabilities (forum – admin – manage admins), I would be happy to take a look… understand if thats not doable too…

Hello, again. Hopefully, by the time this is resolved, I'll be an expert!
I do want to add you as an admin so you can see what's going on, but this is what you see when I want to add a user…
[Image Removed by User]
When I add a forum, I get "New forum creation failed." highlighted in yellow.
I received this a few minutes ago from the owner, since I have no access to it…I assume this is the db table you are referring to. I do not see sfversion and sfbuild.

Thank you again for your time, help, and dedication. I wish any of my professors are that way…and they're getting paid for it!

well, this all gets back to I believe your database is pretty much empty… here's what I would do… since this is pretty much new, right? lets start over..
go to forum – options – uninstall and check uninstall… then deactivate the plugin… this will clean the db (of the few remaining things)…
then, reactivate the pluign and do the install… let me know what happens…
